Aug 28, 2023 · Here’s cable versus fiber in a nutshell: fiber has the fastest plans and symmetrical speeds, but cable is much more available and often cheaper. Overall, cable and fiber are both reliable internet connections. Both can reach beyond gigabit speeds (1,000Mbps), but cable doesn’t have the symmetrical (equal) speeds provided with fiber. As the title says, I have their Fiber 1000 plan and I am not getting advertised speeds. I'm hardwired directly to the router. There's an integrated speedtest when you log into the router, that shows about 970~ down and up.
